Abstract :
In this paper we propose a novel joint power-rate-distortion (P-R-D) model for H.264/AVC-based wireless video communications through portable devices. To optimize video qualify after transmission through error prone channels under the condition of energy constraints for real-time video coding, we present a novel model that takes into account multiple factors, including energy allocation, source coding, channel distortion. The results of experiments have demonstrated that the proposed energy-efficient model can minimize end-to-end distortion under power constraints in a wide range.
