  • Abstract
This paper researches about an intelligent surveillance system, which is used for surveiling separated-moved and important remote-object. This system is based on WLAN, which followed the IEEE 802.11b/g and could communicate smoothly with Ethernet or Internet etc. For an intelligent video encoder, we used an efficient video coding algorithm based on SPIHT (set partition in hierarchical trees), which can produce scalable rate bite-stream and is very appealing for network-oriented application. We also used intelligent alarm aroused by video-identification. After selecting the interested area and setting the threshold of changed pixel blocks, we could complete real-time intelligent surveillance and recording. We presented the structure and key-technology of the system in detail. Finally, experimental results show that, in range of 10 km, this system can support inter-transport of 16-route, 176times168, 25fps video-audio and accomplish alarming correctly
