Abstract
For very low speed operation and position type control, the use of flux sensing that relies on integration which has a tendency to drift may not be acceptable. The most commonly used alternative is indirect filed orientation, which does not rely on the measurement of the air gap flux, but uses various governing equations to satisfy the condition for proper orientation. A current controlled PWM induction motor drive is to be studied and the speed regulation is achieved using a PI controller which converts the command speed into command torque and finally the speed of the drive.
