Abstract :
This paper presents an ultra-wideband (UWB) indoor channel sounding scheme with parallel RF chains based on five-port receivers and antenna array. Propagation measurements are used to study the direction of arrivals (DOAs) and time of arrivals (TOAs) across the European ultra-wideband frequency range of 6 to 8.5 GHz. Low-cost system and high-resolution estimation are obtained using a five-port receivers and the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. This algorithm is associated with a Spatial Smoothing Pre-processing (SSP). Measurements are performed in line-of-sight (LOS) and no-line-of-sight (NLOS) radio propagation scenarios. A detailed description of the system and results evaluating the SIMO (Single Input Multiple Input) sounder are discussed in this paper.
