Abstract :
This paper proposes an effective method for Congestion Management by identifying the optimal location of TCSC in a restructured power system. TCSC serves as a powerful tool in increasing overall transmission capability of line, improvement of voltage profile and reduction of active power loss of transmission line. As the power flow pattern in restructured power system is difficult to predict, management of congestion is a complicated job. In this paper, it is suggested to find the set of lines on which TCSC can be placed to solve congestion occurred in a line before the actual occurrence of congestion in the network. An algorithm of proposed methodology is given to define the procedure of congestion management. Feasibility of the method is tested on Delhi 33-bus network and results are compared with the paper based on the same network.
