  • Abstract
    Pantograph catenary system is a complex system which can be represented by fourth order transfer function. In this paper, the complexity of the system is reduced using model order reduction based on approximation and hankel´s singular value method. A comparison of the reduced order model of pantograph catenary system is done using two different techniques. The complexity of the system is reduced in such a way such that its original properties are maintained. Further a controller is designed for the optimum response of the system using the reduced order model using direct synthesis approach.
