Abstract :
Analyses of process behavior and capability have vital importance to learn about and monitor the online process performance in order to produce the customer-desired outputs. This work has been carried out in a real life glass manufacturing plant to investigate the online process performance and improve the product quality. The behavior and capability analysis of certain problematic processes have been done by using various statistical tools and techniques such as histograms, controls charts, Pareto charts, flow charts cause and effect diagrams. Data distribution and adequacy checking have been by applying the Normal distribution test. Software used are SPSS, Excel, QI Macro software. Besides, process capability indices such as Cp, Cpk, Cpm, and Cpkm have been carried out to measure the capability of the most problematic process and other processes for quick decision making at the product design and process planning stages. Results show that process behavior and capability have a strong relationship between each other where, characteristic of a process is the key to determine the capability of process. This study would be an effective guideline for the production and quality engineers for sustainable product and process development.
