Abstract :
The minimum amount of flows and timing of flows are important to ecological integrity. However, the lack of continous monitoring and accessibility of hydraulic and ecological data make this research area challenging. In this paper, the authors have initiated to develop a systematic, automatic, reliable and affordable monitoring system to pinpoint the hydraulic variability in Brunei River. The monitoring system will assist us to understand what species will be under threat and what measures can be taken to mitigate the threat. Moreover, it is expected that, with this article, readers can have a thorough understanding of existing methods for quantification of environmental flows.
