Abstract
The problem of pole assignment through output feedback is examined by investigating the effect of small changes in the feedback matrix on the closed loop pole locations. The main outcome is a feasible directions search procedure for finding a feedback matrix which places the poles at specified locations. The algori thm and variations of it are described, convergence conditions are given, comparisons with other methods are made, and a numerical example is presented.
