Abstract :
This work presents a numerical study of forward centrifugal fan. The study has been carried out to investigate the effect of impeller blades shape on fan performance and noise. Four models have been designed in different shapes of the blades curve. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software FLUENT has been applied to establish three-dimensional model of centrifugal fan. A steady and transient, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation with the standard k-ε and LES are used for turbulence modeling. SIMPLE and PISO are used for pressure-velocity coupling for fan performance and noise simulation. The results illustrate the increasing of flow rate range with the increasing of blade curve length to a certain limit and then decreasing. Noise simulation also has the same trend.
