Abstract :
This paper reports a sinusoidal input discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) boost rectifier with lossless snubber topology. The rectifier can realize the snubber energy recovery while operating under the soft switching condition. The operation of the rectifier is analyzed in detail and is confirmed by simulation and experiment. The experiment confirms that the efficiency of the rectifier is improved considerably as compared with that of the conventional rectifier. In addition, the pulse width modulation (PWM) method for the reduction in the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the input current is proposed. Then, the rectifier can generate the sinusoidal input current.
