Abstract :
A finite-state nonlinear observer and a nonlinear state feedback controller are constructed for an exothermic stirred-tank reactor operated in either batch or continuous mode. The observer is used to implement a combined feedforward/feedback control scheme. Simulation results are reported. The example generally demonstrates the utility of nonlinear geometric methods for output feedback about a chemical reactor.
