  • Abstract
    This paper presents a method which predicts the performance of induction motor drive systems intended for use as automotive starter-generators. Search methods are employed to determine the maximum torque versus speed and generating power versus speed capabilities of the induction machine subject to the constraints imposed by the voltage and current ratings of the inverter. Search methods are further applied to find the control parameters which yield the highest operating efficiency at points within the capability envelope. Predicted efficiencies are compared to those obtained on an experimental starter-generator
