Abstract :
This paper presents the procedures of applying an on-line optimizing control strategy in a hierarchical structure to a continuous fermentation process. The on-line optimization algorithm converts the optimizing control into a successive set-point tracking problem. The effectiveness of the optimization schemes has been demonstrated through the computer simulation. In the presence of unknow or various range of disturbances, the indirect optimizing control scheme is shown to be more reliable than that of conventional approach.
