Abstract
Raytheon was engaged as a major subcontractor to General Dynamics, Aadvance Technology systems in the development of the UPLOW, a sophisticated cable burial system. Raytheon´s role included design & development of five major elements: control and monitor system, power control system, integrated towing umbilical, launch & recovery system, towing system. Raytheon performed system engineering studies that included trades, design and analyses in order to establish the system architecture. Subsequently Raytheon prepared technical specifications and subcontracted the major detail design and manufacture of the integrated towing umbilical to the Vector Cable Company, a division of Schlumberger Technology Corporation, the power control & power van to Duren Controls and the towing system and docking head to Dynacon, Inc
