Abstract :
In this paper, the purpose of the model is to integrate the queueing theory by implementing it through Cognitive Radio, the most recent development of Wireless Communication. In Cognitive Radio the licensed user has a higher priority than unlicensed user and so for transmitting data packets licensed user will be always getting the first opportunity. The Secondary user might detect if there is any packets that are queued by the primary user if not or if the queue is empty the wireless link can be used for secondary user´s transmission. But primary user transmission must be uninterrupted always. The objective of the paper has been divided into two important parts. That´s the reason firstly a simplified queue model is created for Cognitive Radio. Then theoretical analysis is performed by applying M/D/1 priority queueing scheme. The results will be used to evaluate the performance of the simplified queue model of the Cognitive Radio. The simulations of Matlab code are used to validate the results and they will help to acknowledge the accuracy of the derived expressions. Results indicate that the performance of the secondary user is dependent of the primary user´s data traffic characteristics.
