Abstract :
We use rational approximation to approximate the cell loss probabilities for an ATM multiplexer fed by a self-similar process. By taking advantage of the asymptotic behavior and information of the down-sized systems, we show that this technique can be used to accurately obtain the small cell loss probabilities, which are prohibitively expensive to compute by brute-force simulation
