Proven design of integrated circuits for metering systems

The authors examine the requirement for proven design of electronic integration in electricity meters. The importance of the correct partitioning of the system is reviewed with attention to the risks associated with microprocessor based measurement systems in low-end industrial and domestic meters. Finally an approach applied to very large scale integration (VLSI) integrated circuit (IC) design is described. This provides the meter user with a `proven´ system design
