Abstract :
Aspects of the paper relate particularly to the applicability of TMN concepts to the network management requirements of the Integrated Broadband Communications Network (IBCN) proposed by RACE. The IBCN is a proposed pan-European broadband multi-service network. The network management requirements of IBCN are, in general, extensions and extrapolations of the requirements of existing networks and therefore serve well to illustrate the trends in requirements for future telecommunications systems. The paper contains an introduction to network management requirements, TMN concepts and RACE extensions to TMN concepts, followed by discussion of some issues facing implementers of a TMN
