Abstract :
The space industry is oriented towards the achievement of specific goals. It stands on its record of achievement, both in the sense of facing its own future and with regard to its need for methodologies. The author reviews the importance of goal selection and maintenance. Examples are used to illustrate how space systems projects are run. Current trends that may give rise to changes of approach are highlighted, and areas where change might be appropriate are categorised
