Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an efficient energy management system for wireless sensor network, where the sensor nodes are powered through harvested solar energy. We propose two adaptive transmission schemes that adjust the transmission strategy based on the availability of solar power and battery capacity. Through adjusting the duty cycling, we effectively trade the data transmission delay for energy efficiency, in order to enable the wireless sensor network to be self-sustainable. From the experimental setup, we clearly show that by reducing the frequency of data transmission, it can help wireless sensor nodes sustain indefinitely when powered by solar energy.
