Abstract :
This paper presents on comparative study of single phase cascaded H-Bridge three level and five level inverter using PSIM. These multilevel inverters produce two different voltage levels which operate with four and eight switches from single and two voltage sources. Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique is the most popular PWM techniques applied for harmonic reduction of inverters. Using this technique, two high frequency triangular wave is compared with two sinusoid reference of the desired frequency. The intersection of these two waves determines the switching instants and commutation of the modulated pulse. Simulation results of the designed circuit and output voltage harmonics of three levels and five levels inverter is presented.
