Abstract
It is essential for operators to test the QoS of their network from the users perspective in order to identify and prevent problems before they occur to the subscriber. Autonomous measurements performed by network monitoring tools can cope with the challenges emerging from the complexity of 3G networks. The autonomous tools can satisfy the network operators´ need to provide high quality voice and data services in accordance with their customer demands. Statistical measurement methods are required to efficiently handle a large amount of data and to quickly get a meaningful view of the network performance from the application level down to detailed parameters, system wide. This paper presents such a measurement model and provides a study case for the evaluation of a key performance parameter.
