Abstract :
A theoretical investigation analysing radiowave propagation in a Manhattan type scenario with a rectangular street grid plan is presented. A semi-deterministic approach is employed to calculate wideband channel information, such as the power delay profile as well as the angles of arrival of the received signal multipath components. In this semi-deterministic method the distribution of reflecting surfaces along the streets is treated statistically (e.g. to account for the average street and building width and building separation), while the deterministic part gives the contribution of each ray path at the receiver, should this path be supported by each specific realisation of the stylised environment. The underlining assumption for estimating the average received power is that the exact location of the buildings and the gaps between them is neither important, nor are frequently known in detail in a practical situation.
