Abstract :
PARS is a new type of service for the business user requiring a short range for local or on-site two way communication by voice and/or data. This new service, which was announced jointly by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Electronic Engineering Association on the 30 June 1987, is intended to provide business users with a high quality digital voice and data service using the 933 to 935 MHz sub band with 75 channels for traffic and 4 for signalling. The use of all digital techniques for such a private mobile radio service associated with scanning trunking not requiring any infrastructure is recognised as a UK first in this field. PARS has become possible because low cost microprocessors are now available to carry out the necessary control functions to make the equipments `intelligent´ and hence very user friendly
