Message from the Workshop Chairs: CDS 2013

The 1st IEEE International Workshop on Consumer Devices and Systems (CDS), associated with the IEEE International Computer Software and Applications Conference, COMPSAC, was organized this year in the city of Kyoto, Japan. The aim of this workshop is to discuss and advance the state-of-the-art, research and development in the area of consumer devices and systems, and to promote the study of both fundamental and practical aspects of such devices and systems. The selection of the papers has been based on the careful reviews performed by the Program Committee members, providing the premises for a high quality workshop. We have accepted 7 papers out of 11 submitted ones. The accepted papers range over topics related to smart consumer devices, novel systems for consumer devices, as well as emerging technologies for consumer devices and systems. We look forward to lively discussions on the presented topics during the workshop. We thank all the authors who submitted papers to CDS 2013, and we look forward to an even larger selection base in the following years.
