Abstract :
A five-phase would-field doubly salient generator (WFDSG) which has a new winding configuration is proposed in this paper. The WFDSG has the merits of both of the wound-field synchronous generator and switched reluctance generator. The new winding configuration can solve the phase asymmetry problem of the traditional five-phase WFDSG by wounding field coils around 1-4 stator poles. The design principles are well verified using FEA simulation and waveform measurements.
