Abstract :
Dynamic voltage control is aimed at keeping post-faults voltage stability within acceptable range in the dynamics of power systems. This paper proposes a dynamic voltage control scheme to coordinate quick reactive power controls based on wide-area measurements and model predictive control (MPC). A detail dynamic voltage control model is established by using wide-area measurement information. According to multi-step MPC, the relation of predicted voltage deviations with respect to a sequence of control variables is derived. Then, the voltage control model is converted to a standard quadratic programming over a finite horizon. Thus, the closed-loop voltage control is implemented by the procedures of predicting voltage deviations, rolling optimization and real-time control. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is illustrated through applications to New England 39-bus system.
