Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the P300 variability in single sweep oddball responses using damped sinusoid modeling. A series of oddball paradigms with changing target probabilities and task relevance were applied. A matrix pencil algorithm was used to decompose the single sweep target responses into damped sinusoids. These sinusoids were within distinct frequency bands of the electroencephalogram (EEG) such as delta, theta and alpha. Findings show that different waveform characteristics of averaged brain responses result from the changing number of certain frequency components throughout the single sweeps of each paradigm
