Abstract
This paper analyzes the phase noise effects of a silicon-based oscillator device in MMW band on the uncoded and coded OFDM system with M-QAM modulation schemes. The accurate expression for the distorted SNR is presented assuming different receiving schemes and shows perfect agreement with those obtained by computer simulation. Moreover, it is also confirmed that based on soft-decision decoding, the phase noise effects can be greatly reduced using pilot-based averaging correction.
