Abstract :
An innovative compact self-supporting medium voltage aerial cable system has been produced which has been designed to replace conventional overhead lines especially where added system reliability is required. In Sweden, this design has been standardised for nominal 12-24 kV distribution system voltages and is known as AXUS. This system significantly reduces the demand for space, as line clearings can be narrow and multiple circuits can be attached to single poles. The 3 individually insulated phase conductors are helically twisted around each other to form a compact and robust unit
