Abstract :
In this letter, we present an accurate reachability model of a vehicular data dissemination in a non-deterministic fading channel. Reachability refers to the fraction of vehicles that have successfully received a packet within a specified area. Most previous works have been based on two unrealistic assumptions, which induced inaccurate performance modeling. First, they assumed that a vehicle within a sender´s transmission range could cause interference at all receivers. Second, a channel was assumed to be a deterministic channel, which is unsuitable to describe real vehicular situations. We relax these assumptions for establishing an accurate model in a realistic vehicular channel. Comparison with NS-2 simulation results proves the accuracy of our model in predicting a reachability.
