Abstract :
As a kid, I used to watch old westerns with my dad. Most of them involved villains robbing banks, trains, or stagecoaches. The bandits would ride in shooting their pistols in the air while wearing rags to cover the bottom halves of their faces, which identified them as the villains. The bandits were always successful because the banks carried large bags of money and the trains carried people with (oddly enough) large bags of money and other valuable possessions. The success continued until they were thwarted by the hero: Chuck Connors, the Lone Ranger, or one of the guys from Bonanza, who would come in with pistols, smarts, and television charm to save the day.
