Abstract :
Established in 1979, The Harry Rowe Mimno Award is to recognize and foster excellence in clear communication of technical material of widespread interest to AESS members, and in doing so, to honor the contributions of AES Transactions Editor-in-Chief Emeritus Dr. Harry Rowe Mimno to the AESS and IEEE for over 50 years. The award is to the author of a paper which is either tutorial in nature (including surveys), speculative, or which advocates new ideas or principles tending to promote debate. It is selected from among those published in the IEEE Aerospace & Electronic Systems Magazine. This IEEE award consists of a commemorative recognition plaque and a honorarium of US$1,000. If more than one awardee, the monies are divided equally with individual plaques. Eligibility: Authors of paper published in the AESS Magazine from 2 years ago (2014 in this case). Nomination: Anyone qualified to appraise a paper contribution to the wide field of interest of AESS may formally nominate her/him. The nominator must forward a completed nomination form available on the web at http://ieee-aess.org/membership/awards or by emailing the Editor-in-Chief of the AESS Magazine. No more than 3, but not less than one letter of reference should also be forwarded with the nomination form to indicate credible recognition by others, such as peers, management, customers, and other organizations. The Mimno Award Committee of the IEEE/AESS Magazine will review this information to determine the most qualified recipient of the award. Anyone qualified to appraise a paper contribution to the wide field of interest of AESS may formally nominate the authors of a paper in the magazine. Schedule: The Awards Committee must receive all nomination material for the 2014 Mimno award no later than 31 December 2015. The spread of time between original manuscript publication and selection of the paper by the committee is to allow for the paper to have enough time to be disseminated internationally to peers. The a- thors of the winner paper and successful nominating sponsor will be notified no later than 28 February 2016. Actual presentation of the award will be at a convenient IEEE AESS conference.
