Abstract :
A resonating segmented Mach-Zehnder modulator with peaking transfer function is designed and fabricated in InP. The modulator is able to transmit a 56 Gbit/s on-off keying signal although the driver is limited to 20 GHz bandwidth. Bit error ratio over dispersion and optical signal-to-noise ratio are measured and show substantial advantage over their non-resonating counterparts.
