Abstract :
Distributed network cameras are gaining popularity in scientific research because they can be used to monitor natural and human phenomena on a very large scale. However, there´s no easy way to gather and process data from a large number of distributed cameras. This article proposes a system that uses cloud instances to gather and analyze data from a large number of cameras. It presents some initial results when analyzing data with different parameters, such as the cameras´ geographical locations, cloud instance size, and processing program execution time. The authors show some basic strategies for choosing cloud instances when processing data from a large number of cameras. The article can serve as a starting point for further investigations.
