Abstract :
This paper analyses a double resonant system, as Tesla transformer, that is a double capacitive-inductive system magnetically coupled, when this system is excited by a sine wave. For this the transfer function is obtained from equivalent circuit, being analyzed in terms of time when a sine wave is inserted as excitation of the primary. In this analysis the gain obtained is great comparing with square wave excitation. Thus, this paper shows that the Tesla transformer works with sinusoidal excitation, and present a gain higher than expected in classical transformer theory (turns ratio). All analysis presented were based in simulating operation using MATLAB® comparing with experimental data.
