Abstract :
Wayfinding (finding a route/routes between two locations) and navigation (actively aiding an entity in real time to move from one location to the other) for vehicles and aircrafts has a rich research history. This is especially true after the invention of radar technologies and their use in civilian and military applications for localization, identification, and navigation of terrestrial and aerial vehicles. Accurate indoor localization is still in its nascency, to the extent that there is no single positioning technology, such as the GPS, that has been identified as suitable. This book is a timely addition to the resources available to researchers and practitioners in the area of wayfinding navigation. This edited collection experts, explores different facets of the indoor wayfinding and navigation problem, such as cognitive factors, positioning and mapping, applications of these technologies, and privacy of individuals. This book is relevant for researchers, students, and practitioners in the area. Each chapter ends with related references, which will help researchers dig deeper into the subject.
