Abstract
The power system operators need to be trained up to their responsibilities providing secure, economic and qualified energy. The complexity of systems and the demand for rapid and effective decisions under pressure require the development of professional competencies in specific training programs. This paper proposes an analysis of training programs for power system operators. A framework was applied in two cases, one in Latin America and other in Europe. The results show, among other factors, that the standardization of training programs and its integration with the policies of professional development and the strategy of companies are crucial factors to maintain the operators prepared to attend the responsibilities of the position .
