Abstract
This work presents a methodology for obtaining the profile of current and voltage along each of the conductors of a ac power transmission line, in the steady state. It is based on the analytical solution of the system of equations that rules the behavior of a transmission line and its results are more significant results than those from the traditional Pi circuit, taken as reference. For illustrating the application of the proposed methodology data of a real power transmission line are taken and show how the amplitude of voltage and current may present surprising values although their measured values may be satisfactory at the line ends. Linking of this methodology with PMU systems allows the enhancement of line monitoring systems.
