Abstract
Information and communication technologies (ICT) enable transmission and application of all kinds of information and represent the most assertive generic technology of today. The task of ICT management is to stimulate and develop the awareness, knowledge and application of the new technology in the Croatian economy, which will correspond better to the challenges of the future economic development of Croatia. We examine the importance of ICT sector in economy and the role of ICT management in development of ICT sector. The desk research includes development and use of ICT in Europe and especially transition countries and Croatia. Also, a poll research was conducted among Croatian managers about the use of ICT.
