Abstract
The design of a sensitivity model-based adaptive control scheme is presented. An adaptive controller is composed of a principal (linear or nonlinear) controller and a lead-lag compensator whose parameters, gain and lead time constant, are adapted by using a sensitivity model derived at first for the suitable second-order reference model and then, as such, applied to the controlled process. A proposed adaptation algorithm has been tested in the angular speed control loop of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive, and the simulation results confirmed its effectiveness and fast convergence of adaptation.
