  • Abstract
The paper presents the analysis and modeling of tactical data links according to a scenario presenting the tactical battlefield, which is edited by means of a graphical user interface. The platforms on the battlefield have been assumed to be air, maritime and surface (land) platforms; and the tactical data links have been chosen as link 1 (STANAG 5501), link 11/11B (STANAG 5511) and Link 16 (STANAG 5516). Several properties of the tactical data links, such as the transmission rate, range and velocity resolution, total track capacity, volume of interest, track classification and identification capability have been simulated. This work should not be interpreted as a MATLAB simulation because the paper describes a software development process and a platform independent, stand-alone application.
