Abstract :
The paper describes an improved version of an optical gating technique. The potentiality in recovering the spatio-temporal intensity distribution of ultrashort wavepackets is discussed. It is shown that the technique enables the preservation of the spatial phase information (suitably described by the second harmonic generated holography) of the WP. Possible improvements of the technique was also discussed.
