Abstract :
The performance of decision feedback equalization (DFE) recording channels is examined, using both threshold and fixed depth tree search (FDTS) detectors. The paper also examines the performance gains obtained by using run length limited (RLL) encoding. Different RLL modified FDTS/DF detectors are used for analysis and their bit error rate (BER) performances are compared to the ones of the traditional implementation.
