Abstract :
In this paper, we present an analysis of the dynamic operation of the DBR lasers based on 2D photonic crystal structures. In our theoretical model, we take into account the gain saturation effect, transverse and longitudinal field distribution. We obtained the laser characteristics showing an optimal reflection of DBR mirrors, which provide maximal power efficiency for a given laser structure. We have shown that relaxation oscillations parameters and 3 dB modulation bandwidth strongly depend on values of photonic crystals parameters. We believe that our model of dynamic operation can be useful tool for modeling such laser structures
