Abstract
An architecture called MADAME (macro dataflow machine) for supporting a statically scheduled macro-dataflow is described. When dataflow program graphs can be statically scheduled, little run-time overhead (software or hardware) is necessary. A subclass of dataflow program graphs lacking data dependency (digital signal processing and some other scientific computations) is well suited to static (compile-time) scheduling.
