Abstract
Threshold puzzles represent an improved version of client puzzles, which have been proposed to add DoS resistance to authentication protocols. They involve the time management of solved puzzle instances, thus making the protocol resistant to strong attacks. This paper addresses the need of adapting the puzzle complexity to the computational power of the client and introduces a new concept: the adaptive threshold puzzles
