Field operational R&M warranty

Reference is made to the need for some warranty to be provided by the contractor on equipment supplied to the government which has received considerable attention in defense system´s acquisitions. Experience in the evolvement of the formulation and application of a simple field operational reliability and maintainability (R&M) warranty for airborne communication equipment is reviewed, particularly as it concerns the R&M activities prior to field deployment, subsequent implementation in the field, and improvement of the system operational readiness.
