Abstract :
This paper discusses the problem of automatically creating reusable software artifacts. A fundamental model for the structuring of reusable artifact libraries, the acquisition of reusable artifacts into libraries, and the location of reusable artifacts in libraries is described. A knowledge-based method for automatically generating reusable artifacts based on a domain knowledge base and consistent generalization is given. Tools based on this method and employed in the DProto system are described.
